What Documents Do You Need for Customs Clearance in Latvia?
One of the most common reasons for customs delays is incomplete documentation.
The paperwork requirements depend on the type of declaration — import, export, or transit — and the nature of the goods. But there is a core set of documents that applies to almost every air freight shipment through Latvia.
For standard imports you will need: an airway bill (AWB), commercial invoice, packing list, and a power of attorney authorizing your broker to act on your behalf.
Depending on the goods, you may also need: a certificate of origin, import licence, phytosanitary certificate, conformity declaration, or product-specific permits.
For excise goods — alcohol, tobacco, fuel — additional excise documentation and guarantees are required.
