AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) is a certification issued by EU customs authorities to businesses that meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and financial reliability. LETT 2000 has held AEO status since December 2010. Shipping with an AEO-certified broker means your cargo faces fewer customs inspections, faster border clearance, and priority treatment at EU border crossings.
How long does customs clearance take at Riga Airport?
For standard air freight shipments, customs clearance at Riga Airport typically takes 2–4 hours from submission of documents. With our AEO status, many shipments qualify for simplified procedures that can reduce this to under 1 hour.
What documents are required for air freight customs clearance in Latvia?
Standard required documents include: air waybill (AWB) or CMR, commercial invoice, packing list, freight invoice (where applicable), temporary storage document, and power of attorney. Depending on the goods, additional documents may be required, such as a certificate of origin, import licence, or product description. Our team handles all documentation on your behalf.
Does LETT 2000 handle dangerous goods shipments?
Yes, by air. Two members of our team hold IATA DGR training certificates, enabling us to handle dangerous goods shipments by air freight. We do not currently hold IMDG certification for sea freight DGR. Our specialists ensure correct classification, packaging, labelling, and documentation in line with IATA regulations.
Do you offer sea freight and road transport as well as air freight?
